Our story, since 2020
Most people who find their way to a prosthodontist have gone years without dental work, or have had a lot of dental work fail. Either way, they arrive with a story. Dr. Charette wants to hear yours.
He and his wife, Stacie Steinbock, opened Charette Prosthodontics in Louisville in October 2020, to be more than a credible expert: a companion for every step of the way.
Why a prosthodontist
What is a prosthodontist, anyway?
A restorative dental specialist with three years of additional training beyond dental school. You may need one if your dentures fit poorly, you have been told you will lose all of your teeth, you want implants, or you just want a gorgeous smile.

Four ways to replace a full arch of teeth.
Choosing an upper denture with a lower fixed prosthesis is often financially within reach, and leaves room to work toward upper implants later.
Conventional dentures
Rely on the gums and underlying bone for support. Upper dentures are much more forgiving than lower ones, which often need help from implants to work well.
Implant over-dentures
Far more retention and stability than a conventional denture, less bulk, and no need to cover the palate, so you taste more of your favorite foods.
Implant-assisted partials
Implants improve the retention and stability of a partial denture, and can do away with metal clasps around the remaining teeth.
Fixed hybrids
Screwed to four to six implants, so you cannot remove them. The form, feel and function closest to natural teeth.

Meet your prosthodontist
Dr. Jyme Charette, DMD, MSD
Born and raised in Gillette, Wyoming, he came to Louisville for dental school and has called Kentucky home ever since. A DMD from the University of Louisville, then a three-year residency in prosthodontics and an MSD. He loves to teach, and outside work he plays guitar, hikes, wakeboards and trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Why see a prosthodontist?
A prosthodontist is a dentist with a minimum of three more years of training after dental school, in an accredited program, focused on repairing and replacing broken or missing teeth: implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, and the bone and soft tissue that support them. Dr. Charette has also earned a Master's degree and Board Certification from the American Board of Prosthodontics.
What services do you provide?
Single implants and implant crowns, implant bridges and crowns, natural tooth crowns and bridges, veneers, hybrids (All-on-4s, fixed dentures, implant dentures), over-dentures and implant-assisted dentures, over-partials and implant-assisted partials, and conventional dentures and partials.
What happens at the first consultation?
As Dr. Charette likes to say, the consultation is for you. It is a 45-minute to one-hour appointment to meet him and the team, and to decide if the practice is right for you. He learns your story, where you are and where you would like to go, so the treatment plan starts from your goals. Please call the office for the current consultation fee.
What is the comprehensive exam?
A detailed evaluation that is a required part of prosthodontic therapy: photographs, 2-dimensional radiographs, a detailed oral evaluation and diagnostic impressions. It lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. To explore implants, Dr. Charette may also need 3-dimensional radiographs.
Do you accept my dental insurance?
As a dental specialist, the practice is fee for service. Some insurers will pay benefits on an out-of-network basis, and the team will print the paperwork for you to mail to your carrier. If services are covered, your insurer reimburses you directly.
How much does it cost, and can I spread the cost?
It depends on your needs and goals, and the practice prides itself on meeting patients where they are, with a range of options for your dental, emotional and financial needs. Financing is available through Proceed Finance, with extended repayment terms and pre-qualification that does not affect your credit score.
